Man killed by train crash may have been distracted
(KUOW) — A man killed at a William Town train station on Monday was a distraction who possibly was distracted, the victim’s family told Channel 2 Action News.
John Hinton, 36, was pronounced dead at a hospital around 2 p.m. and remains in critical condition.
Police said they believe there may have been a passenger on the train at the time that they encountered a large gray vehicle.
“We believe it may have been an UberX vehicle, that there may have been a driver on the train as well, someone who was distracted,” said Mike Broussard, spokesman for the police force investigating the crash.
Hinton, of East Lansing, disappeared after trying to get on the bus that arrived at William Town Station around 11:30 a.m. Broussard said he drove by the station to take the train back and was lost on the way back.
Broussard said Hinton may have been distracted by technology on the bus before the accident.
Police say the incident remained under investigation.
